Exercise your Mini Schnauzer

Why exercise a dog? Like humans, canine couch potatoes cannot maintain good health. Mini Schnauzers are no exception.

Miniature Schnauzers, by definition, are active dogs. This breed excels in all forms of organized performance competition such as agility, rally, earthdog, and more. If you are interested in organized competition, our club can help!

But formal competition is unrequired to exercise your pet schnazuer. Tossing a ball or throwing a frisbee in the yard for a few minutes every day benefits your dog greatly, but it may not be quite enough if that's all you do. If you own only one dog and you are not or cannot be very active yourself, you need to develop an exercise protocol that will help keep your canine companion in top shape physically so that he/she can have a longer, healthier life.

Dogs that receive regular exercise are less likely to be destructive - especially when their owners are out of the house. Dogs that regularly exercise - especially with their "people" - are happy dogs who rest well and maintain physical condition. Older dogs that may suffer from mild joint discomfort will benefit from a short, gentle walk; outdoor exercise distracts the dog from any pain it may feel. Addtionally, any kind of exercise helps strengthen both muscles and mind!
